Duty Diligence
US import duty and landed margin for Shopify sellers. Built by In The Park Consulting.
Duty Diligence reads the cost, HS code and country of origin you already keep in Shopify and shows the effective US import duty and duty-inclusive landed margin for every variant. Every figure shows where it came from.
If your prices were set more than a quarter ago, your landed margins have probably moved without you touching anything. The working behind the 32% is here.

Checked against the 554 lines in the three proclamations of 23 July (alcohol, dairy, general goods). The lists were machine-read from the scanned annexes, so verify at the source before acting. Section 232-covered goods, energy, potash, fish and certain critical minerals are exempt. There is a plain-English note on what changes.
What the app does
- Coverage report. How much of your catalogue can be checked, and which fields are missing where.
- Margin snapshot. Price, cost, effective duty and landed margin per variant, with the source and date on every rate. Free, no card needed.
- Monitoring. Twice-daily re-verification, with changes flagged on the dashboard. $19 a month.
Every rate is computed two independent ways from the tariff schedule, and the two answers have to agree before it is marked verified. A duty layer still printed in the tariff text but no longer collected - the struck-down IEEPA duties, for example - is only excluded on documented evidence: a court ruling, a Federal Register action or a CBP notice. It is a screen that sits alongside your own judgement rather than a substitute for a customs broker.
Who is behind it
I'm Josh Hume, a product developer in West Yorkshire. I studied Sports Technology at Loughborough and have spent the 20 years since inventing, developing and licensing consumer products, including a kettlebell redesign licensed in the US. Importing my own products is where I learned that the duty rate is the least stable number in a landed-cost calculation. My hope is that fewer sellers find out about a rate change from their accountant, months after it happened!
Where to get it
The app is live on the Shopify App Store. The snapshot plan is free with no card needed, and it works from fields you already keep in Shopify, so trying it costs nothing but a few minutes. If you want to check a code that behaves oddly above, or have a question about how the rates are built, I'm happy to help.
