This policy covers 2 things operated by In The Park Consulting Limited: the website at dutydiligence.netlify.app, and the Shopify app called Duty Diligence. It says what each one collects, why, how long it is kept, and how to have it removed. In The Park Consulting Limited is the data controller for both.
The site uses Google Analytics 4 (property G-JT2NMRM8QJ) to count visits and see which pages are read. This is on every page of the site, including the duty pages under /duty/ and this one.
It collects the pages you view and when, the page or search that sent you here, and your browser, device type, operating system and language. Google derives an approximate location (usually country or city) from your IP address and does not make the address itself available to us. It sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_JT2NMRM8QJ to tell one visit from another.
We use it to understand whether the pages are useful and being found. It is not used for advertising, it is not combined with anything from the app, and no data from it is sold or shared with anybody beyond Google as our processor. Google processes it in the United States under its own terms, which are at policies.google.com/privacy. Analytics data is retained for 14 months and then deleted by Google.
To opt out, use Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or block cookies for this site in your browser, or turn on Do Not Track or an equivalent setting. The site works normally with analytics blocked.
The app reads product and inventory fields from your Shopify store through the Admin API: product and variant titles, prices, cost per item, harmonized system (HS) codes, and countries of origin. It requests read-only access to products and does not modify your catalogue.
The app stores your shop domain, the API session Shopify issues for it, and app settings derived from your catalogue (for example, which HS code and origin pairs your products use). This is held in Google Cloud Firestore. The app does not collect or store customer personal data of any kind - no names, addresses, emails, orders, or payment details.
Duty rates shown in the app and on this site are computed from published United States tariff sources (the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, CBP bulletins, and Federal Register actions). Rates and margins are informational estimates, not customs, legal, or financial advice.
When you uninstall the app, its stored sessions for your shop are deleted. Shopify also sends a shop redaction request 48 hours after uninstall, at which point any remaining data held for your shop is deleted. Because the app stores no customer personal data, customer data requests and customer redaction requests are acknowledged with nothing to return or remove. Website analytics data is retained for 14 months as described above.
We sometimes write to businesses whose contact address they have published on their own website, about a duty change affecting goods they appear to sell. Every such email carries our postal address and a way to refuse. Reply with "no thanks" and we will not write again, and the refusal is recorded so no later email is sent. We do not buy, rent or scrape address lists.
Under the UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or erased, object to how it is used, or ask us to restrict its use. Write to the address below and we will answer within 1 month. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
